Documenting what it felt like.

Why These Photos Matter More Than You Think
Photography isn’t just about what things look like — it’s about holding onto what you don’t realize you’ll miss yet.
There’s a moment that always happens for me.
Usually when I’m editing.
The house is quiet.
The images are pulled up on my screen.
And I’m going through them one by one…
and then I pause.
Because suddenly it’s not just a photo anymore.
It’s a hand that won’t always be that small.
A face that will change.
A season that will pass — even if you don’t realize it while you’re in it.
I think a lot of people assume photography is about documenting what things look like.
But for me, it’s never been about that.
It’s about holding onto something
you don’t even realize you’re going to miss yet.
I know that feeling a little too well.
After losing my dad, photos became something different for me.
They weren’t just memories —
they were proof.
Proof that moments happened.
Proof that he was here.
Proof that I didn’t imagine the way things felt when everything was still normal.
And now, as a mom, I feel it from the other side too.
The way my kids change without asking.
The way time moves whether I’m ready or not.
The way a phase ends and I didn’t even realize it was the last time.

That’s why I photograph the way I do.
Not overly posed.
Not forced.
Not perfect.
Because real life isn’t perfect —
but it is meaningful.
I don’t need your kids to sit still.
I don’t need everything to go exactly as planned.
I just need you to show up as you are.
Because the in-between moments —
the ones you might think don’t matter —
those are the ones that end up meaning the most.
If you’ve ever thought:
“I’ll wait until things calm down”
“I’ll wait until the kids are older”
“I’ll wait until life feels a little more put together”
just know…
this is the season.
Even if it feels messy.
Even if it feels chaotic.
Even if it doesn’t feel like something worth documenting yet.
Because one day, it will be.
If you’re in this season too… you’re not alone.
If this resonated with you, I’d love to connect 🤍
